Willow, Missing Colorado Cat, Found In New York City Streets

When a calico cat named Willow disappeared from her Colorado home five years ago, Jaime Squires and her husband, Chris had hope they would eventually find her, as she had an ID microchip. As the years went on with no sign of Willow, the family eventually gave up. Last Wednesday, they received a call from Animal Care and Control, which runs New York City’s animal shelter system. Willow had been found in Manhattan.

Willow, who was only five and a half pounds when she was lost, now weighs seven pounds, and is a healthy, well taken care of cat. Even so, there are no clues as to how she ended up in New York. Two of the three Squires children remember Willow. The youngest, only three years old, saw her picture and said, “She’s a pretty cat.”

“The kids can’t wait to see her,” Squires said. “And we still have her little Christmas stocking.”

Vica’s Little Moment of Win

funny win story - Vica's Little Moment of Win

I've wanted to go to the U.S. since I was little, studying and perfecting my English, whenever I could. Still, everybody said that going oversees was just too big of a project, as I'm from Eastern Europe, plus a poor university student. I worked hard for the last year, saved up the money I needed, and I'll be landing in NYC on Saturday. IMMYear

Last week at work, we completed putting together a huge picture of New York using 36 printed pages of portions of the image. When I came in on Monday, someone had made a little King Kong and placed it on the top of the Empire State Building. IMMD
