Willow, Missing Colorado Cat, Found In New York City Streets
When a calico cat named Willow disappeared from her Colorado home five years ago, Jaime Squires and her husband, Chris had hope they would eventually find her, as she had an ID microchip. As the years went on with no sign of Willow, the family eventually gave up. Last Wednesday, they received a call from Animal Care and Control, which runs New York City’s animal shelter system. Willow had been found in Manhattan.
Willow, who was only five and a half pounds when she was lost, now weighs seven pounds, and is a healthy, well taken care of cat. Even so, there are no clues as to how she ended up in New York. Two of the three Squires children remember Willow. The youngest, only three years old, saw her picture and said, “She’s a pretty cat.”
“The kids can’t wait to see her,” Squires said. “And we still have her little Christmas stocking.”
