After waiting the mandatory year between donating bone marrow and contacting the registry to find out how the 5-year-old boy with leukemia did, I found out that not only did he survive the procedure, but he's now returned to normal daily activity (which presumably means First Grade!). IMMD

My sweet little cousin’s Little Moment of Win

My 9-year-old cousin is being raised by a single father, my uncle, so our entire family has had a hand in helping him out this past year (by doing everything from baby and petsitting, house hunting, financial support, and of course endless emotional support and lovingly homemade meals, etc.) When I went to pick up my cousin from school the other day, the first thing he asked was, “Daddy’s taking my sister to the father/daughter dance. Since my mom’s not here, can you please take me to the mommy/son dance?” I was raised without a father, and my granddad always took me to the father’s day breakfasts at my elementary school. Knowing that I’ve been given the chance to provide that same kind of love and security, and maybe help fill that gap left by a missing parent, is pretty amazing. And knowing that my cousin recognizes that massive amount of love I have for him, absolutely MML!

Firefighters rescue dog during Wausau house fire
When a house caught fire yesterday the three people and three of the animals living there were either out at the time, or able to escape. One dog had to be rescued. Firefighters broke open several windows to rescue Coda, a seven-year-old lab. Once outside the house, firefighters helped resuscitate Coda, performing mouth to snout resuscitation and giving the dog an oxygen mask.
Coda was taken to VCA Companion Care Animal Hospital and is doing fine. The family is staying at a hotel courtesy of the American Red Cross.

I was in the bathroom of the local Applebee's restaurant. When I was in the stall, I was whistling "Rolling in the Deep" by Adele. While I was whistling, someone in the other stall joined in with me. I stopped whistling shortly after, but the other person kept on whistling the tune. It was epic and hilarious. Totally made my trip to the restaurant.

I was at university when forgot my Ipod at a table when I left for class. When I realized this, I rushed back and found two peopls sitting at the table. Instead of taking it, they left it where it was. Knowing that there are still people out there who are kind and courtious MMD
