When I started my relationship with my fiance who already has children, I always feared they would see me in the same way I see my step-mother (We do not have a great relationship). Hearing my future 2 1/2 year old step-daughter call out for me using my name for the first time, followed up by a kiss on the cheek and a "I love you, My Cara.", and knowing that I'm not the wicked step-mother really, really, MML.

My family had a cabin by the lake that my grandpa had built himself. The land it was on was leased and the owners decided not to renew anyone’s leases so they could build houses. This weekend, my whole family gathered at the cabin to get all our stuff out. On one wall there was a growth chart of all my aunts and uncles. We all cried, but then we started telling funny stories about our memories at that cabin. It was really sad, but family togetherness MMD.

The leaping dog who may be a world record breaker
Blitzen, a four-year-old rescued collie, leaps and twists in water so well he might break the world record. Stacy Clark, his owner, says he reaches six feet two inches more than the current record holder for a canine jump.
“He hasn’t been trained to do it. It’s entirely his thing,” said Clark. “The children splash water in the air and he just loves to try and catch it. We call it his dancing…We would be amazed if he had broken a record. To us, he’s just a lovely dog and very much part of the family now.”
Blitzen was adopted after being rescued from a life on the streets. He belonged to a homeless man who was no longer able to care for him. Now he is enjoying a month long vacation with his new family. Guinness World Records says he’ll need to repeat the jump in front of an adjudicator to claim the record but for now, he and his family are content to enjoy their holiday.
My younger brother just came home from a year in Afghanistan. Since it was so hot out we all decided to go to the beach. Getting to horse around like we did when we were kids mmsummer.

I was pretty bummed because local weather conditions and a bad schedule had not allowed me to plant any tomatoes in my garden. An offer of a plant from a co-worker also fell through. I was pulling some weeds one day, mourning the lack of tomatoes, when I happened to notice familiar-looking plants growing by one of my raised beds. Inspection revealed them to be two cherry tomato plants that had managed to sprout from last years' discarded crop. IMMD!
