British tourist who caught falling baby: I’m no hero

“British tourist Helen Beard doesn’t feel like a hero even after being feted on Friday for catching a 1-year-old girl who fell from a fourth-story balcony at an Orlando resort hotel.

‘Absolutely not. I did what needed to be done. I didn’t want a fuss. Anyone would have done it,’ Beard, 44, of Worksop, England, said in an interview with Reuters.

The toddler was not seriously hurt, though she did hit her head on the rail of a third-floor balcony during the fall.

At a ceremony on Friday to thank Beard, local authorities awarded her a Medal of Merit, a citation rarely given to anyone outside of law enforcement. Beard was also presented with a Guardian Angel award created especially for her by the Florida Department of Children and Families.”

I was at the grocery store and their radio started to play "Thriller". I walked into an isle to see a man dancing to the song… until his girl smacked him saying "he was embarrassing her". He stopped, but as soon as she went into another isle, he started dancing again. Watching some guy having fun totally MMD.

It has been raining for a week, and the city was flooded. My university was canceled and several of my friends has to evacuate, but I saw some guys with swim trunks skimboarding down the street. IMMD

My father was in the hospital for five weeks, and in lots of pain. I am caring for him and on Sunday, he got to see his grandson (my nephew) again. Seeing the smile on his face from seeing this lovely baby MMD and gave me hope for faster recovery.

So at some point I lost my Bose headphones. If you travel a lot, you know they're awesome on a plane, but not cheap. Not being in any position to replace them anytime soon, I'd given up on them. Today while on lunch a guy called and said he found them on a Southwest flight he had just taken. He works 20 mins from my house. Got him a Carrabba's gift card that I had to talk him into accepting #IMMD

I'm a college student, and I have been struggling with crushing depression for the past year. It has affected my grades despite my best efforts, and just last week I did the math and realized I couldn't possibly get the grades I need to be allowed back next semester. Then, when I went to see my counselor, she surprised me by saying that she knew of a way for me to stay and would do her best to arrange it. Her generosity and my school's understanding of mental problems MMD.

When I got to work this morning, we heard a bird that had somehow gotten stuck inside our wall. Luckily the boss was out of town, so a co-worker and I pried the door frame off and we were able to free the baby bird. IMMD
