My husband is now too deaf to hear on the phone, even with hearing aids. For months he hasn't been able to talk at all and it has made it impossible to find work. After many visits to disability services we bought iphones to use a hearing captioning ap with his calls. Tonight he was able to talk on the phone with his mother for the first time in years without me listening in or fielding the whole call. She was so excited to hear his voice again, and not being in the way MMD.

That’s great for all of you! Time to reap the benefits of technology.
That’s awesome! I’m an Android-girl but I have to admit the iPhone/iPad is pretty sick.
That is great news
I plan on getting a new phone soon as well as renewing my cellphone contract
This story has made me even more determined to get an iPhone
and this will stop the MiL from most likely feeling like some of her stuff is not being told as she said it. or even being said at all.
some MiLs feel like their DiLs are trying to keep baby boy from mommy
And some MIL’s are awesome. I’m lucky to have one.
Whatever happened to “If you can’t sat something nice, don’t say anything at all”?
go read those MiL stories sites.
one hopes that all MiLs behave themselves. but soooo many of them misbehave.
including one gal who gave her son a very $$$ present. and gave the DiL a chocolate men’s part.
You could just learn ASL. Would make life easier. You just get video phones that basically work like a webcam.
iphone product placement fail. Apple really is stooping to new levels.
What is the name of the app?
*SNIFFLE* Now THIS warms my heart!!!! *hugs*
buying an iphone is a rather expensive solution.
I have both a textphone (AKA a ‘minicom’) and an amplified telephone to enable me to use ordinary landline telephone and my hearing loss is right on the limit of what hearing aids can help with. Without my aid I would not even hear a jet engine next to me, however the combination of hearing aid and telephone amplifier is sufficient for me to hold a conversation with someone I know.
Having used speech to text software with my computer, I would not trust it with anything important because the accuracy is highly variable.
