I work at a nursing home. I was helping this woman from her armchair into her wheelchair yesterday, & her cat was sitting on the back of the armchair. The whole time that I was helping the woman, I could feel her cat patting me in the back of the head as if to say “Good hooman, yoo take good care of mah mama.” IMMD!

Oh, please. That cat was going, “If I tap it juuust right, I’ll crack the skull open.”
They allow cats in nursing homes?
Some do! The facility my husbands grandma was in had four cats, and a small dog.
Yep! The one where my mother used to be head of admissions had one. She was such a sweet little cat. She always stopped by mom’s office on her daily “rounds” of the facility
What I remember most (and still smile over) were the signs on doors to areas the kitty wasn’t allowed into (like the kitchen) There were always 2 signs. One at human level and one at kitty level!
Wow! A nursing home that lets residents have pets. Awesome! Thanks for the work you do. Thank goodness there are people like you who take care of the elderly when their families can’t.
XD Hee. I bet kitty was also saying “Me next! Me next!” ^n_n^
The cat should have gone to a speech therapist.
I wish the nursing home I work at would allow live-in cats. We have so many animal lovers ( on my alzheimers unit), that I bet it would make them so happy. There’s nothing better than a purring cat curled up next to you.
On the flip side of that coin, I think it’s a good thing that some don’t, considering allergies and such.
More like “Hey, hey you, where’s my food?”
I love cats.
I am actually surprised more nursing homes, rehabilitation centers and the like do not allow live-in pets. The health benefits of having animals around have been proven – why do you think they have things like therapy dogs?
Either way, good hooman, and good kitty.
