    Why is your five year old in first grade? That means kindergarten when he was 4; no wonder he wants to be a geek!

      There are two stages of kindergarten (at least where I live there are). Junior and senior. So that means that the kid started school at age three. In the public school I went to, it was actually fairly common for kids to start at three, but more common for them to start at age four.
