Today, as I was driving to work, a police cruiser in front of me put on its lights and stopped traffic on the road, for no apparent reason. I was starting to get annoyed until I saw the policeman get out of his car to rescue a turtle from the road. Totally MMD.

Good Man, saving his fellow Mutant Ninja Turtle.
My dad and I did something like that when I was a kid. Thankfully it wasn’t much of a rescue because the road got almost no traffic, we put him in my friends huge yard.
Zombie Kid became a policeman?
To Serve And Protect — FTW!!!
My mom rescued a turtle once when I was little. It became my first pet.
Yay!
TURTLES NEED LOVE TOOOOOOOOO
I saw an officer do that here in my town for a mother goose and her goslings while they crossed the road. It was awesome!
…..aaaand now we wait for the inconsiderate troll who says something about how they would have just run the cute lil turtle over, or bitches about how cops shouldn’t be holding up traffic for a “stupid animal”.
I personally think it’s a great IMMD post, they make my day too but there is usually some prick that talks about wanting to run it over or something. *rolls eyes*
Wellll……it happens often, and usually I’d glumly agree with you, but I’m typing this on the 31st and no cuisine-challenged substructure symbionts in sight.
And yes: BIG smile for the nice coppiceman. I once put on my emergency lights and stopped traffic (just 2 lanes) to help a mama duck and brood get across the road (just took a minute). Only one person honked impatiently, and the guy in front of HIS car got out to tell him to chill out. THAT guy REALLY MMD!
And the policeman was all like “I like turtles!”
ahahahaha.
Double high-five!
Aw, that’s the best. Cops could be doing this or handing out parking tickets and holding RADAR guns. This cop’s doing his job right.
Turtle rescue is a major win in my book. We do it all the time in NJ.
I highly doubt it was a turtle (they have flippers). A TORTOISE (the one with legs) would probably be more likely.
Very cute story though.
Actually, it was probably of the genus Terrepene, or Box Turtle. The term tortoise and turtle are used interchangeably with this genus as they have characteristics of both turtles AND tortoises. They are the most common turtle seen on American roadways, at least on the eastern seaboard. The more you know (queue shooting star).
Science win.
You shall build a turtle fence!
