I hadn’t noticed the guy in the canned goods aisle at Walmart had a children’s glove stuck to the back of his pants until a little girl trotted past him, hollering, "2319! 2319!" IMMD

HA!
That sounds familiar…ugh, it’s from a Christmas movie, isn’t it? Elf or Fred Claus?
Ah, Monsters Inc. -reading fail-
Haven’t seen it in ages. Once again, funny!
Twenty three – nineteen!
Monsters are funny.
Care to explain it to me?
A 2319 is from a kids movie called monsters inc, its when a kids toy/clothing item is stuck to someone ( in the movie they think kids can kill you O_O )
Don’t get it?
2319– it’s from Monsters inc. During a scare session, one of them comes out after a productive day and has a sock stuck on his furry back. One of the nearby monsters notices the contamination and shouts out “2319!!!!” prompting a hazmat team to come in and close off the place.
I don’t get it.
supposedly the children are dangerous and thats what you shout when there is an article of clothing or something of a child on them
2319?
Oh, heck. I’d completely forgotten about Monsters Inc.
In case anyone else doesn’t get it, benefit from my research:
Thanks Scully. Even after someone referenced Monsters Inc in an earlier post, I was still lost
haha thanks
classic moment… and that poor guy… though he does end up getting his revenge later
A la Monster’s Inc, for those of you that need explanation
Criminal copyright infringement? I don’t get it. Google has failed me.
Yeah, I got the same thing…Scroll up; Scully posted the video explanation
ahaha Mike Wakowski strikes again!
Gagakowski!
Mikey Kowski.
actually it’s Mike Wazowski… i just watched this movie again for the millionth time with my daughter lol
I don’t get it.
Okay, I’m not much for police codes. What does that mean? Is it theft?
I don’t understand…
I don’t get it Explain.
I’m extremely confused…
I Googled 2319 and I still don’t get it. Someone please clarify.
What does 2319 mean?
I had to look this one up, as I had inexcusably forgotten the 2319 scene from Monsters, Inc. Thankfully, the Internet provided “2319, Monsters Inc” to remind me. Now IMMD
I don’t get it… I feel so useless now.
Took me a second to get this one.
I’m so confused
that is the best thing i have heard all day.
IMMD
Monsters Inc FTW.
oh.. how i love monsters ink!
apparently i’m not cool enough to know what 2319 is.
…aaaand if i’d read it as twenty three nineteen i wouldn’t look so dumb here
2319 or twenty three nineteen, equally incomprehensible to me.
Scroll up for the answer.
i hope the CDA didn’t get him… :I
If you google 2319 it comes up as a videoresult.
Quick! Sterilize, strip, shave, and stick a cone over his head before he contaminates any more monsters!
To everyone who didn’t get the joke, even after viewing the YouTube video:
“2319″ (probably should have been written as “23-19″) is a code used in the Disney-Pixar movie “Monsters, Inc.” that stands for “child item contamination”. Throughout the movie, it’s believed that human children are disease-ridden and filthy, as are anything they possess or wear. They, and their clothing, are supposedly toxic to monsters. There is one memorable scene in the movie where one of the monsters, George, comes back into the factory after having scared one of his assigned children. When he returns, a sock is seen clinging to his back. His assistant notices the sock, screams “23-19!” and the entire plant goes on lock-down and shuts down while the CDA (Child Detection Agency, similar to EPA) sweeps and decontaminates the area. After the sock is removed and destroyed, they decontaminate George by shaving him nearly bald and giving him a quick shower.
Thanks for the explain, Patrick, and I’m glad I read it before watching Scully’s clip or I wouldn’t have remembered the motivation for all that silly greatness. Or, great silliness, whatever! Saw that movie eons ago and have forgotten most of it, but this reminds me of how much fun it was.
I am heavily dissapointed at the number of people complaining they don’t know this, when it is from such a great movie and Scully was kind enough to give you the clip…
Can’t believe I got that right away.
Love it! Funny, funny movie. One of my favorite scenes from it too.
the comments under this post MMD!
Someone look out for the CDA!
Oooooooh! Duh…
Yeah, i definitely had to look this one up as well. Much funnier when you get the reference.
Obviously you guys who don’t get it don’t have any kids!
I find it funny how many times the joke was explained to still have people complaining they don’t understand it.
Maybe some of them haven’t seen the movie, or they can’t get youtube where they’re at?
In case you belong to one of either, the reason they say “23-19!” is that it’s a (fictional, in the Monsters Inc. world) codename (a la police codes) for a contamination with human material, and the scene has (as aforementioned) a monster with a kids sock stuck to his back.
But then again, if you haven’t seen the movie or can’t remember & don’t look up the clip, it won’t be funny even if it’s explained to you.
Sorry for vomiting up Obvious all over the place.
R3, your comment MMD
Good times.
People really do need to skim the comments before asking questions though, I see the answer given in text numerous times and then the video and still there is a huge block of people afterwards asking for an explanation. :p
So… I clicked to ask what 2319 meant… then saw the video clip and BUNCHES of Monsters Inc. responses. It really is much funnier once you get it.
To all those “I don’t get it!” replies after they vid was posted, really guys… read the comments first!
>_<
I don’t get i….
naa im kidding. I can imagine the scene for this one… did the CDA come and skin the guy then?
