At one point you would have sacrificed your life to save hers. I mean you married her so I hope the feeling was this honest.
At the very least, you should feel sorry for someone who has sunk to the level to shop-lifting and vandalism.
If it makes your day, you should examine yourself for vindictiveness and pettiness.
People will seek their own level. If her level is Shop-Lifting and Vandalism, that’s too bad for her.
If your level is relishing the misfortune of others, that’s bad for you.

Did you consider WHY they got divorced? It’s clearly because they stopped feeling for each other. Maybe this is a symptom of whatever caused that to happen.
The OP isn’t “relishing [her] misfortune.” Her “misfortune” is GETTING CAUGHT. I don’t have that much sympathy for criminals. Do you? Sure, some of them DO deserve pity and help because their situations forced them into it or something. But that’s a pathetic minority of those who only look out for themselves and don’t care about the damage or hurt they do to others.
