After spending the day coughing my lungs up and feeling like death, I reluctantly went to my evening job at a call centre. (Unable to take any more time off sick.) After struggling through a few calls all the lights and computers went off. We were sent home. IMMD.

At my job they make you go home if you act sick, but still won’t give you paid sick time and will still point you for being out. And yes, in the US.
American labor laws are messed up, because in our country politicians are owned by the corporations who give them campaign contributions. It’s sickening.
I’m so glad the Sick Time Gods took pity on you, my dear. And so dramatically! Don’t forget to thank them appropriately, or karma will bite your ass bad.

I used to work at a call center. Once when our power went out, we had to write down the orders instead of typing them into the computer system. That place was hell.
