It Made My Day

A young girl was helping her mother bag groceries when we heard the tell-tale "splat" of the eggs hitting the floor. The girl looked up and her lip started quivering as she waited for mom’s response. Mom looked at her, looked at the eggs, smiled and said "See, I told you we were making scrambled eggs today!". IMMD

That’s so awesome. I’ve seen mothers all but abuse their children in Wal-Mart and other stores (I’m not exaggerating, I’m talking shapping, shoving, pushing, etc.) when they’re not doing ANYTHING, so it’s nice to think that mother has a sense of humour and a kind heart.

    • Megan says:

      very much agreed! :)

    • Capo Flynn says:

Shapping?! Like i said, I’m sure you have a degree! You can’t even spell the simplest words!! You have to love internet liars! LOL! On top of the fact that your making up stuff! Really, kids getting hit when they’re not doing anything?! You should HATE YOUR LIFE!!

      • Wemsie says:

Oh come on, it was a typo. At least she didn’t over use exclamation points unlike someone..
And, I completely agree with you Mandy. :)
People go way too hard on their kids. I think this IMMD was really sweet.

        • Capo Flynn says:

Well Wemsie, you must’ve went to the same school as her dumbass! And the exclamation points are intentional!

          • Ivette says:

Wow, you are an asshole. Nobody cares about an obvious typo.

          • Mandy says:

Oh, I’m sorry. I made a typo. How horrible of me. Since when did bullying people on IMMD become a hobby of yours?

And yes, I do see that happening. I live in Northern Manitoba. Native Canadians here were shipped off to residential schools and stripped of everything about their culture and were made to suffer horrendous physical, sexual, emotional and mental abuses. Though it happened a few generations these children grew up and had children without knowing what it was to love — they passed it on to their children and so on and so forth, and the sad truth is (not to stereotype — it’s not all aboriginal people nor are white people exempt from being bad parents) you see many of them with little parenting skills who do treat their children like that.

I’m not proof-reading what I just wrote just to make sure I don’t have any typos. I figure you don’t have much of a life so I have to give you something to amuse yourself with.

          • Wemsie says:

            Capo. Stop being a troll.

          • Boo says:

The correct sentence structure is: “you must have gone”, not “went”.

          • Ren says:

Her dumbass what? Either learn where to put commas or learn how to put spaces between words before you rag on people’s grammar.

  2. Comrade Question says:

Thats a nice mom. If that had been me when I was a lil kid I woulda got my ass BEAT right there. The eggs wouldnt been on the ground 2sec and my dad woulda been on me like stink on shit

  3. Nana says:

Karen, thank you for the great story. IMMD, too! Nice kid to care, and nice Mom to recognise that an accident is an accident.

[We have a troll in our midst, but I hope you'll simply pity then ignore it.]

    • Cait says:

Yes, Nana, I agree. Understanding Moms are a rarity these days – I can’t honestly say I wouldn’t be a little angry if it were my kid, and I like to think I’m a pretty good mom… mind you, I’m really paranoid and wouldn’t have let my kid carry the eggs in the first place. LOL
As for the trolling… well, it seems more and more common these days, doesn’t it?

      • Cait says:

(sorry, I just realized the girl was helping bag the groceries, not carry them. Either way, I’d be too paranoid… lol)
I wish we had an ‘edit’ option for our comments. :(

  4. Sodaprincess says:

This is a really lovely story, it made my day reading it :D I’d probably have gotten a earful, or worse still a thrashing, if the same thing had happened to me when I was younger.
