I went to a roller derby bout the other night, with the theme “Star Wars”, and some of the local Star Wars fans were there in costume, including several Storm Troopers. I was sitting at the end of one row, when one of the Storm Troopers came and stood beside me, watching the action. I turned to him, waved my hand, and said “These are not the roller girls you are looking for.” He nodded and walked away.

Uh, I originally submitted this. No idea who Zarzonia is. The theme of the bout was “Scar Wars” though, you know, because they knock each other down and get ass bruises and “rink rash”.

Wow really? What team are you supporting? That sounds like it goes against a lot of the WFTDA guidelines, unless they were legal hits of course. In which case, yeah!
But really, what you described is more like the dumb old show, which is basically just bitched knocking each other down and fighting and being generally violent.
New age derby tries not to be as violent, and more of a legit sport. With short skirts.
Actually this sounds just abour right. Not every one fallows the WTFA ruling. And I don’t see what is wrong with fighting, I don’t find it to be “dumb”.
The Radioactive City Roller Girls. The hits are legal and follow all WFTDA guidelines. They just go with creative namings of the bouts (the first local bout was “Pleased to Beat You”) and show off their “battle wounds” because they’re badass.
